Autumn / Winter 2007

There are plenty of looks for the new season, hereare some of my top tips for Autumn/Winter 2007

The new colours are the jewel colours – reds, purples, blues, greens and yellows, Think of a tin of Quality Street and, those are the shades you need to look out for.

Everything from coats, knitwear, blouses, skirts, dresses, shoes, bags and belts can
be found in these bright hues.

Try Jaeger, they have a pussy bow blouse in emerald green.

Hobbs have their Ava court shoe in crimson.

And Mulberry have their Mabel bag in bright purple patent.

Black is big again this season, but, the look is black on black i.e black embellishments on black fabric or black separates in different finishes.

There are plenty of ‘little black dresses’ with various skirt lengths to choose from: Karen Millen have a lovely organza ribbon dress with collar and 3/4 length sleeves, or a shift dress covered in jet beading.

Black on black can also be achieved by piecing together separates in different finishes, i.e shiny top with mart bottom, or vice versa.

Tailoring is making a comeback – think 1940’s glamour and that’s the look we are trying to copy.

feminine- in the shape of the skirt suit – cut to the knee, orjust above, and the
shift dress either fitted or accessorized with a belt

masculine- in the shape of wide legged trousers, you can choose plain versions, or high-waisted and turn-up’s.

Chunky cardigans, jumper dresses and big scarves. Use a belt to give the knitwear more shape, and, to cinch in your waist.

The military trend is still here, epauletres, gold and silver buttons, red embellishments, and buckles can all be seen onjackets, coars, boots and shoes. Vanilla in Hale have a great military style black coat, double breasted with gold buttons by Rinascimento.

Finally, be adventurous, mix your textures: Tweeds with silks, velvets and metallics, satin’s with matt finishes.

Choose one block colour, and match the same shade but, in different textures. Go bold with accessories – big platforms, high court shoes, shoeboots, large tote bags, clutch bags and belts.
