One of the most popular featured trends for autumn & winter 2010 is the Aviator jacket.
Originally designed by an American Leslie Irvin to keep pilots warm in sub zero cockpit conditions, this bye-gone classic has been re worked by most fashion houses this seasons.
I am a huge fan of old classics, and love mixing older styles with new designs. I think that this jacket will prove to be a very flexible friend, and I can think of many ways it can be worn. Try with skinny jeans and huge heels for an urban contemporary look, and for a softer style pair it with a long floral summer dress – effortless chic, giving you a chance to wear your summer maxi dress well into the winter season.
As much as I love this jacket, I shall be erring on the side of caution this season, and will probably give this trend a miss… A year in the classroom has left me carrying a number of extra pounds, which I am determined to shed. And the last thing my wardrobe needs is a bulky new item that will make me look even heavier, so I shall not be partaking.
However, I do see the Aviator jacket as an investment buy, a trend that will be around for some time, (if indeed it ever went completely off the radar).
So if all goes well at slimming world, I might change my tune in a few weeks!
