On my way home this evening I stopped at the shops in my local village and to my surprise and delight our village Christmas lights have been turned on already!!
So surely it can’t be too soon for me to start talking about dressing up for Christmas?? There are lots of lovely dresses coming into the shops now for the party season, so I thought why not have a little sneak preview, and start getting some ideas together.
Black is huge again this season, but, rather than playing safe, I thought I could talk about the bright jewel colours that are also making the headlines. Red, purple, deep blue, fuchsia and jade green, just remember all the colours in a tin of Quality Street!
A few dresses have recently caught my eye so I thought I might begin with those;
http://www.hobbs.co.uk/ Hobbs Manchester or Hobbs in-store at John Lewis at Cheadle Royal (Cheshire) are favourite destinations of mine, – Classical tailoring from their in-house designers, with accessories and shoes to match
Here are a couple of dresses, which stood out for me;
The Amanda Dress in violet duchess satin for £159.00
The Ekland Dressin Jade silk for £159.00.
http://www.marksandspencer.com/ Marks and Spencer have a collection by Patricia Field, – the designer from Sex and the City, – quirky modern designs at affordable prices.
A cheeky little number is the Ravishing Ruffle Dress value for money at £55.00, in Pink or Purple.
Affordable glamour by Wallis http://www.wallis-fashion.com/ comes in the shape of the Pretty woman mesh dress with diamante buckle, again in Purple or Pink, priced at just £40.00.
http://www.whistles.co.uk/ Whistles are very much on trend with their Modern cocktail dress a short edgy little number, 100% silk in Green, Purple, or Red, priced at £175.00.
I use Whistles in Manchester, Liverpool and Leeds to support my personal shopping trips across the North West and Yorkshire.
The Designers at Debenhams range has a great selection of stylish on trend items to choose from . In keeping with the jewel-toned theme, I thought the Ben De Lisi “Dark blue appliqué petal halter dress” was very pretty.
Closer to home, Vanilla Boutique in Hale village is always spot on trend, and owner Caterina has a number of great little dresses, I particularly liked her Unique Boutique selection,
A one shouldered ruffle edged dress in jade green called Madeleine £125.00,
A bright blue, sleeveless, Grecian draped creation with diamante detail called Hyacinth £64.00,
And a very sweet red puffball dress called Roxy £200.00.
On a personal note, I always love the collections at http://www.mywardrobe.com/ and Autumn/Winter this year has not disappointed, in fact three of my favourite dresses are to be found here.
Alma ruffle dress by Nathan Jenson,
Pewter bow front dress by Paul Smith,
And my number one favourite, the Rose print cocktail dress by Paul Smith.
Coincidently, all three dresses are displayed on the page together, as if to say to me “it would be such a shame to choose just one of us, so why not have all three!!! (http://www.my-wardrobe.com/designer-clothing/designer-dresses)
But, I digress!!
For those with a little more money to spend, the Alberta Ferretti Red strapless corseted dress is a masterpiece of timeless elegance; at £390.00 it is an investment buy. Accessorise it, or keep it simple, this beautiful dress would give hours of pleasure and fun for some lucky girl.
