I love the little micro-trends we see each season, the must-have pieces for any fashion follower. There are so many ways in which you can follow new fashions and trends: you can subscribe to them fully and wear them in their entirety, or you can direct a little nod to the trend and wear a more watered down version.
Jason Wu (seen here), Giorgio Armani and Mulberry were just a few of the designers who had peplum shapes in their ranges for SS12.
Peplums have been around for the last few seasons and will be with us for a little while to come. They were strong at the AW 12 shows too, so if you buy a peplum piece now you will get some true value from your purchase.
It’s all very well for me to talk about the designer ranges, but very few of us are in a position to part with something so luxurious. So, where can you get the look on your shopping expeditions? I have found a few pretty little pieces on my travels so far, so let me share them with you.
What about this lovely little Pink Peplum Slash Neck Dress at good old Dotty P’s? Dorothy Perkins have some lovely dresses this season and this one ticks all the boxes. Catch it if you can as it’s already reduced to £30 in their spring sale.
If you have a little more to spend what about this at Net a Porter by Marc at Marc Jacobs. His Ellsworth Striped Cotton and Taffeta Dress selling at £440 has a lovely day-to-night feel about it. Wear it with ballet flats in the daytime or with killer heels and big, bold earrings in the evening.
But if you don’t want to go all-out and wear thje full peplum on a dress, you can always wear it as a casual T shirt like this one at H&M. At only £12.99 this little Peplum Top is fun, feminine and a change from a standard basic jersey T shirt.
Wherever you manage to find your frills this season, enjoy them!
‘Til next time!
